Cotton Hand Made Nokshi Bedsheet
Nakshi bedsheet, a type of handmade bedsheet, is a centuries-old Bengali art tradition in Bangladesh. The basic material used is thread. Nakshi bedsheets are made by some ethnic group of people whose are living specific hilly areas of Bangladesh. The colorful patterns and designs that are embroidered resulted in the name "Nakshi", which was derived from the Bengali word "Naksha", which refers to artistic patterns. The early Kathas had a white Background accented with red, blue and black embroidery; later yellow, green, pink and other colors were also included. The running stitch called "Katha stitch" is the main stitch used for the purpose. Traditionally, katha was produced for the use of the family. Today, after the revival of the Nakshi Bedsheet, they are produced commercially.
